Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel assured that health authorities will work to resolve the country’s current epidemiological crisis using the same practices employed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We have convened our scientists and experts from all fields of knowledge to confront arboviruses just as we did with COVID-19. With a working system that allows us to contribute, from a scientific perspective, analyses and urgent solutions,” he announced via social media X.
The day before, at the Palace of the Revolution, the head of state led a meeting of experts and scientists on health issues. During which he called for weekly meetings to address the epidemic of Specific Febrile Syndrome, caused primarily by arboviruses.
So far this year, 38 municipalities have experienced dengue transmission. Regarding Chikungunya, the cumulative number of cases has reached 21,681. Of which more than 20,000 are clinically suspected cases. Also 692 are confirmed in 14 provinces, 93 municipalities, and 151 health areas.
During the discussion, according to a notification from the Office of the President. It was reported that febrile syndromes decreased in Cuba last week. Particularly in the provinces of Havana, Matanzas, Villa Clara, Cienfuegos, Ciego de Avila, Granma, Santiago de Cuba, and Guantanamo.
