Water Supply Source Will Benefit Lenin Hospital Service

The provision of water to the hemodialysis service at the Vladimir Ilich Lenin Hospital with its own water source is one of the projects being carried out in Holguin. To reduce the negative effects of the drought that has affected the province in recent months.

Juan Mario Echavarría Hernández, territorial delegate of Hydraulic Resources, told CNA that this solution will provide backup for the service at this healthcare institution. One of the largest water consumers.

He emphasized that work is underway to install a pipeline from the University of Medical Sciences’ well. Located next to the center, to the hospital’s cistern. Which will guarantee the stability of the service in the event of any system disruption.

Echavarría stated that this solution will allow for greater availability of water for the population in the midst of any contingency. Also that the surrounding community will continue to be supplied through networks.

In addition, feasibility studies are being conducted in the eastern province to drill new wells and restore existing ones in vulnerable locations with high water supply cycles, he added.

Meanwhile, in the eastern and northern systems of the provincial capital, a comprehensive investment and maintenance program is underway. Including pump restoration and repair of stations and structures aimed at reclaiming the dead water volume of the dams.

Holguin, Cuba’s third most densely populated province. Now is facing its driest months of the last decade. Although recent rains have benefited the reservoirs, they have not been significant.

Therefore, work continues on alternatives aimed at facilitating water supply through the water supply networks. Also ensuring the optimal functioning of the infrastructure necessary for this process.
