Scheduled to take place from October 1st to 24th, the province of Holguin will host the 6th Anniversary of the Chair of Embryology and Fertility, FERTILEMB 2025.
Convened by the University of Medical Sciences of Holguin, the Provincial Council of Scientific Societies, the Holguin Chapter of the Cuban Society of Basic Sciences. The Chair of Embryology and Fertility, and the Assisted Reproduction Center of the Vladimir Ilich Lenin General University Hospital, this important event will foster scientific and academic exchange among medical professionals, students, researchers, and professors.
It will also be an opportune moment to recognize the efforts of researchers in accordance with the social purpose of the institution of higher education in the health sciences in the region and to socialize research in the field of Assisted Reproduction.
The scientific event aims to enhance the scientific results of interdisciplinary and multicenter projects on topics such as prenatal stimulation, stress and pregnancy, drug-induced embryofetal teratogenicity. Also the impact of infertility on the aging population of Cuban society, molecular genetics of development, its relationship with infertility, and the impact of embryology and assisted reproduction on the mother-child program.
As a medical field, embryology studies the progressive growth and differentiation that occur during the early stages of embryonic development and recognizes most congenital disorders or malformations that the embryo may suffer. Correcting them if possible and allowing for normal development.
Fertility is the biological capacity of a person to conceive and carry a pregnancy to term. A process that involves the proper functioning of the female and male reproductive systems. In women, it depends on the quality of the eggs, ovulation, and the health of the uterus and fallopian tubes. In men, it depends primarily on the quantity, motility, and morphology of the sperm.
