Los Pumas from the province of Holguin advanced to the second round of the Cuban Futsal League after defeating Guantanamo 4-0 on Sunday in the sixth and final round of Group D. Which is being held at the Santiago de Cuba Ateneo Armando Mestre.
The Holguin team, coached by former World Cup player Karen Mariño, needed a win against Guantanamo. To avoid waiting for Granma’s result, which, incidentally, also delivered by defeating already qualified Santiago de Cuba 3-2.
Captain Alejandro del Vals led his teammates with two goals. The other two goals were scored by Joaquín Chapman and Yoarki Cabrera.
The standings in Group D were led by Santiago de Cuba with 12 points. Also Pumas were second with 9, both with a ticket to the next round. Behind them were Granma (8) and Guantanamo (4).
Villa Clara and Cienfuegos had previously secured the spots in Group B. On Sunday, Industriales and Pinar del Rio were announced for Group A.
Only the qualifiers from Group C remain to be announced.
