The Sixth Anniversary of the National Electoral Council was celebrated with a commemorative event at the La Periquera Provincial Museum. This body, which has guaranteed transparency, fairness, and participation in Cuban electoral processes since 2019, was present.
The ceremony was attended by leaders of the Communist Party of Cuba, the government, the Cuban Workers’ Federation, provincial mass organizations, members of the Provincial Electoral Council, and presidents of the Municipal Electoral Councils.
During the event, it was highlighted that the National Electoral Council has become an example of democracy in the country. An achievement attained thanks to the work of those who have been “initiators, successors, and fundamental pillars at every stage.”
In recognition of this work, awards were presented to outstanding workers for their contribution to the results achieved during these six years of work. The event also served to recognize outstanding groups of the Sixth Anniversary Movement, whose efforts have strengthened citizen participation and enriched Cuban democracy. Among these, the Economic Department received special mention for its valuable contribution to the success of this collective endeavor.
The event concluded with a message of unity and commitment. Rolando Céspedes Bejerano, president of the Provincial Electoral Council, reaffirmed the importance of continuing to improve the Cuban electoral system.
“We will continue working with the same dedication that has characterized us these past six years. Because our democracy deserves it and our people demand it,” Céspedes Bejerano stated during his final remarks.
