According to Dr. Osvaldo Aguilera Batista, President of the Organizing Committee of the event, this workshop aims to socialize the results of science, technology and innovation in the field of both primary and secondary immunodeficiencies, in addition to promoting scientific exchange among professionals from different areas of knowledge and promoting collaboration between academic and scientific research institutions.

Scheduled to take place at the Pediatric Hospital Octavio de la Concepción de la Pedraja, the meeting will address as main topics primary and secondary immunodeficiencies, HIV/AIDS, laboratory diagnosis of patients with immunodeficiencies and HIV/AIDS, nutrition: its impact on immunodeficiencies and treatment of immunodeficiencies.

The main presentation modalities at the event are specialized conferences, free topics and posters, the latter designed only for medical students, said the specialist in General Comprehensive Medicine and Immunology.

The Immunology specialty is in charge of the study of the immune system, which is nothing more than the body’s natural defense against infections and diseases, hence the specialists in this area are in charge of evaluating how the immune system identifies and fights pathogens such as bacteria, viruses and fungi, as well as its role in autoimmune diseases.

This is a fundamental discipline in modern medicine that helps to understand and treat various conditions related to health and disease.
