Holguin Present at the 5th UNIANDES Scientific Congress

The province of Holguin is represented by Dr. Andria Torres Guerra at the 5th UNIANDES Ibarra-Tulcán 2025 International Scientific Congress on Research and Development. A major event taking place from April 21st to 25th in a hybrid format. Held at the Universidad Regional Autónoma de los Andes, Ecuador.

In this regard, the professor and senior researcher stated that “it has been an unforgettable experience, where the problems of contemporary universities and the challenges they face in the current century have been addressed from different perspectives, from a technological perspective, the use of artificial intelligence, and how to enhance the training of more comprehensive, critical professionals that will lead to a better transformation of the health-disease process.

” Torres Guerra, who also has a fruitful research career that has earned her, among other recognitions, the Carlos J. Finlay Order and the Distinction for Cuban Education. Added that “the exchange established between the types of training offered at this university is interesting.

This allows us not only to appropriate experiences but also to share those we have with the UCMHo and the proposals for workplace education, based on research, since their curricula are completely different from ours.

“However, there is a synergy in the intentions of how we aspire to this comprehensive training from the different curricula of the study plans. It is very striking to me that this training to avoid stress does not include workplace education or physical education in the curriculum. Which allows, in one way or another, comprehensive preparation, not only from a physical perspective but also mentally to reduce stress,” she concluded.

Among its main objectives, the 5th UNIANDES Congress pursues building bridges of collaboration through academic and scientific activities and advancing international cooperation and interdisciplinary dialogue, which should characterize a just, informed, and knowledge-based society.

It also features approximately 730 presentations by students, researchers, and professors from five countries: Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Spain, Ecuador, and Cuba. Over the course of five days, participants will showcase scientific results that address key themes such as health and well-being, sustainable economic and business development, higher education, ethics and justice, sustainable development, and science and technology for development.

In this regard, Oscar José Alejo Machado, PhD in Technical Sciences, Academic Director General of the Latin American Association of Neutrosophic Sciences (ALCN), one of the organizations collaborating in this International Congress, spoke about the support for this event, which, somewhat atypically, will last five days given its magnitude and impact.

“Our association has hosted more than 20 conferences throughout its history, with approximately 4,500 scientific articles and more than 30 books related to this area. More than 3,560 authors have received research support. This is a very strong undertaking, in which Cuba has played a leading role in recent years by helping to foster the development of research in these neutrosophic areas.

” The participation of Cuban academics in previous editions of this event has contributed to quality research in the fields of health, education, science, and social development. The ALCN is a non-governmental academic and scientific organization based in Ecuador whose objective is to foster and promote the science of these neutrosophic theories, seeking to develop this potential throughout Latin America among university students, teachers, and scientists.

Almost five years ago, the university began collaborating with various institutions and universities in Cuba, signing agreements. These centers include the Universities of Havana, Cienfuegos, and Holguin, the National Medical Sciences Information Center, and the medical sciences universities of Pinar del Rio, Guantanamo, and Holguin.
