Holguin electricity workers supporting recovery of western Cuba

The contingent of electricity workers from Holguin that is now supporting the recovery of the regions of western Cuba affected by Hurricane Rafael was flagged off by Joel Queipo Ruiz, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and First Secretary of the PCC Provincial Committee in Holguin, accompanied by Manuel Francisco Hernandez Aguilera, Governor of the province, and other directors of the territory.

According to publication on the Facebook social network of this sector, the contingent of Holguin electricians, led by Reinier Gómez Domínguez, director of the UEB of Electrical Networks of Cueto, is composed of 70 workers, including linemen, operators, specialists, dispatchers, engineers, technicians and support personnel.

Of these, 28 participated in the recovery of the damages caused by Hurricane Oscar in the province of Guantánamo, a figure that represents 44% of the total number of participants in that contingency. The detachment has five line brigades, a multipurpose team and four service cars.

On behalf of the members of the contingent, young Juan Carlos Pérez Rodríguez, a lineman with 10 years of experience, who recently arrived in the territory after providing support in the recovery of Guantánamo, after the passage of Hurricane Oscar, highlighted the commitment of the Holguin electricity workers.

“The members of the Lidio Ramón Pérez Holguín electricity contingent are committed to remain in the western region as long as necessary and work tirelessly to restore services; provide support to the affected customers; watch over and comply with the norms established for Health and Safety at Work; comply with the discipline and order established in each day; return to Holguín when the mission is accomplished”, highlighted Pérez Rodríguez.

During the ceremony, Juan Manuel Mederos Quiñones, Director of Human Resources of Electricity Company in Holguín, expressed that “they are expecting hard work days in adverse conditions, but we trust in the dedication, commitment and knowledge of each one of the members of the Lidio Ramón Pérez Holguín electrical contingent. We wish you much success in the task entrusted to you and we will proudly await your return home”.

Also present at the ceremony were Idalmis Serrano, General Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC) in Holguín province; Rubert Reynaldo González, general director of Electricity Company in Holguín, as well as other leaders of the Party, the Government, the CTC, workers and managers of the company.
