Baseball teams from Marcane and Tacajo look at provincial crown

The teams from the compamies Fernando de Dios and Loynaz Hechavarría will discuss the crown of the Sugar Baseball League of Holguin province.

With double victories playing home, the teams representing the sugar companies Loynaz Hechavarría, from Marcané in Cueto, and Fernando de Dios, from Tacajó in Báguanos, assured the tickets to go for the crown of the Provincial Tournament of the Sugar Baseball League in its 42nd edition.

At the start of the semifinal of the tournament, scheduled to be a best-of-three in two, the team from the Loynaz, defeated the current national – the sqaud from Urbano Noris – with scores of 4×2 and 3×2.

The first win was a personal success for Ruben Oris with decisive offensive support from Luis Lawrence, 2-3, with a run batted in; Yusnier Pino, 2-3, and Angel Fernandez with a two-run homer and a run for the win.

The second win was for left-hander Ronny Corrales (5-0), once again standout Angel Fernandez (2-3) with one run batted in, while Laindel Leyva went (3-3), with ne run batted in.

The Fernando de Dios victories were by scores of 7×3, with Carlos Santiesteban in the box, and then by blank of 5×0, thanks to the effective job by César “el pescao” Concepción.

In the first round, Franklin Aballe, 2-3 with a home run and two RBIs, Carlos Gabriel Fonseca, with a home run and two runs batted in, and Leandro Sanchez, who went 2-3, and reached his 15th consecutive game hitting.

In the second game, Dayán Fernández Serrano, 2-3 with a pair of home runs, and three run driven in, was the most outstanding offensive player.; while Michel Gorgüet, 2-3 with one RB, also made his best in the win.

The grand finale of the Provincial Sugar Baseball League will be played in a five-game series (best-of-three), two matches on Saturday, and if needed, a third game on Sunday.

The games start on Saturday 17 at Marcané baseball stadium, to later play at Delfín Fuentes Cano stadium in Tacajó.
