Manuel Marrero Cruz, member of the Politburo and Prime Minister of Cuba, advocated on Thursday for the improvement of services and the creation of capacity building for local development, during a tour of sites of economic and social interest in the municipality of Gibara, in the province of Holguin.
At Caletones camping base, under construction, he highlighted the relevance of the quality of its completion and the expansion of the offerings for domestic and foreign visitors among the options for the upcoming summer season.
He also pointed out the delays in the investment process and the importance of paying attention to the importance of paying attention to the comfort of the rooms and the development of commercial alternatives such as internships and tent rentals, which can be extended to neighboring facilities.
On the other hand, at the new headquarters of the Gustavo Aldereguía Lima Hospital, as part of the priorities of the Public Health sector, he urged to accelerate the construction of the civil structure, which is 90 percent completed, and to house workers close to the site to reduce fuel and transportation costs.
He also stressed on the need to bring forward the completion of on-call and outpatient clinics, one of the services most in demand by the population, which is scheduled to be inaugurated on July 26th.
As part of the program, the Head of Government exchanged with members of the Municipal Administration Council, where he inquired about the ongoing investments, job offer, the transformation of vulnerable neighborhoods and the care of high-risk pregnant women.
Javier Pérez Balmaseda, mayor of this territory, specified during the meeting the potential of the locality, in terms of food production, the linkage with the new economic actors, the fulfillment of the demand for grains, the distribution of medicines, among other topics.
Marrero mentioned among the priorities the promotion of attention to the vulnerable sectors,, the use of idle land for agriculture, reducing food prices, and the expansion of basic services to the population.
He also defended the revitalization of public spaces, the completion of investments in the pipeline and the search for local solutions to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants from that coastal territory.
The tour was attended by Joel Queipo Ruiz, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and first secretary of the PCC in the province, Manuel Francisco Hernández Aguilera, governor of Holguín; Sonia Chacón, deputy to the National Assembly of the People’s Power, among other political and governmental authorities.
