Holguin Icap, among the most integral delegations in Cuba

The recognition of the delegation of the Cuban Friendship Institute (Icap) in the province of Holguin, among the most integral of the country, was expressed in its annual meeting by members of the national direction and endorsed by representatives of the Communist Party of Cuba, Government, institutions and mass organizations.

In addition to the results of its internal operations, the capacity and level of organization of its staff, and the strength of its leadership and the cohesion of the collective, in 2023, this Icap unit, together with supporting agencies, carried out more than 700 face-to-face and virtual actions related to the virtual actions to the demand for the cessation of the economic, financial and commercial blockade on Cuba and the removal of the U.S. and NATO military bases across the world, including Cuba; also meetings and events for peace and solidarity with Puerto Rico, Vietnam, China and other actions rejecting the genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinian people.

The Holguin delegation of ICAP, in addition to being recognized as one of the most integrated ones in the country, was awarded the ’84th commemorative plaque of the CTC’ and was declared in Center XI Congress of the Federation of Cuban Women, it was also recognized for its vital support to the International Campaign for the Balance of the World.

Lupe Isabel and her staff members, Yamila and Ivan, highlighted the systematic mobilization by solidarity systematic mobilization of solidarity friends from various countries in support of the Cuban Revolution, whose face-to-face activities and virtual events had as essential demands the end of the brutal U.S. blockade and the exclusion of Cuba from the spurious list of countries sponsoring terrorism.

This strengthening of the Movement of Solidarity with Cuba has generated a greater number of visitors to this province and the delivery of donations to health and education, among other sectors, standing out the Canadian Brigade ‘Calixto García’, standard bearer in 2018 and deserving Holguín Coat of Arms; the groups Victoria and Sindicalistas, also from that sister country, as well as that of the National Friendship Association Gino Doné, from the region of Marino, Italy; and the Sweden-Cuba Friendship Association.

The Icap members are grateful to the Puerto Rican Brigade Juan Rius Rivera, to the friends of Pastors for Peace, to the humanitarian association Stichting Juan Rius Rivera Brigade, to the friends of Pastores por la Paz, the humanitarian association Stichting ‘Cuba Adelante’, from the Netherlands, to the Spanish, Chilean, German and American supporters.

The working meeting, which took place in the meeting room of the provincial government, highlighted the interaction with young people from other countries who are studying at university in this province and the graduates, some of whom joined the MSC, including those from Angola, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Vanuatu and Tuvalu (Oceania), Argentina, Uruguay, South Africa and the Congo.

The links with Chinese, Russian and Spanish residents, the participation in the Romerías de Mayo festival, the Ibero-American Culture Festival and the May Day parade, with the solidarity block, have been significant.

The proposals of leaders and officials who participated in the meeting, together with those of the members of this small community, will be annexed to the work objectives foreseen for 2024, said the ICAP delegate.
