Holguin: Ediciones La Luz, advanced clarity

Ediciones La Luz, publishing house of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) in Holguín, presented its Campaign for the promotion of books and reading 2024, which has as its slogan “Advanced clarity”, taken from a verse of “La isla en peso” by Virgilio Piñera, and graphic design by Alejandro Zaldívar.

The event, led by poet and editor Luis Yuseff, was attended by friends willing to inaugurate with it a new schedule, which precedes a stage of good fruits, as Liset Prego, journalist, editor and head of the Literature section of the AHS in Holguin, recalled.

In 2023, La Luz won the Award for the Best Publishing House in the country, toured several Cuban cities with the International Book Fair, organized the XXV Celestino Short Story Award, the event Palabras Compartidas de Romerías de Mayo dedicated to Fina García Marruz and the New Voices of Poetry Award, traveled to the Bogotá Book Fair, participated in the Meeting of writers, editors and illustrators of the children’s book “En el Valle de la Pájara Pinta”, among other equally significant events.

Also in attendance was the journalist and critic Erian Peña, who was in charge of the presentation of “La joven Luz”, the first chapter of the documentary series “La claridad avanzada”, directed by Gerardo Perdomo, with memories of the twenty-five years of the founding of the publishing house.

As a culmination of the launching of the campaign, trova singer Lay Verdecia interpreted “Hay una luz”, the theme song that identifies the publishing label born on May 7, 1997, in the last waiting room of the Frank País International Airport, with the presentation of “Bufón de Dios”, by José Luis Serrano.
