University of Holguin Rector Participates in Higher Education Forum in Brazil

The University of Holguin (UHo) reaffirms its commitment to regional integration and academic internationalization. Through the active participation of its Rector, Dr. Aniuska Ortiz Pérez. In the First Forum of Rectors of Latin America and the Caribbean.

The event, held on June 29th and 30th in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná, Brazil. It brought together nearly one hundred representatives from 17 countries to discuss the challenges and future of higher education in the region.

Moreover the meeting, considered a key space for strengthening academic cooperation. Addressed crucial issues such as sovereignty, university autonomy, and regional integration.

The presence of the rector of the University of Holguin (UHo) underscored the internationalist vocation of the Holguin institution. Which seeks to consolidate collaborative networks for the exchange of knowledge and best practices in research and professional training.

Along with the University of Holguin, the Cuban delegation included representatives from the University of Havana (UH). The Agrarian University of Havana (UNAH), and the University of Pinar del Rio “Hermanos Saíz Montes de Oca.”

Also the participation of these institutions demonstrates the Cuban higher education system’s commitment. To strengthening strategic alliances within the Latin American context.

As part of the forum’s activities, Dr. Aniuska Ortiz Pérez signed important collaboration agreements. With three prestigious Brazilian universities to strengthen academic and scientific ties.

The agreements were signed with the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), the Federal University of Southern and Southeastern Pará (Unifesspa). And the Federal University for Latin American Integration (UNILA).

Furthermore these legal instruments will allow for the development of joint projects, student and faculty exchanges, and the creation of dual-degree programs. Representing a significant step in the international projection of the University of Holguin (UHo).
