The Industriales Lions defeated the Matanzas Crocodiles for the fourth consecutive time this Thursday. Maintaining their sole possession of first place in the IV Elite League of Cuban Baseball.
The Lions, playing away at Victoria de Girón Stadium, won 4-0, bringing their total to 14 victories in the tournament. On the same day, the Las Tunas Lumberjacks dealt two blows to the Artemisa Hunters. Moving within one game of the standings.
A hit by Jonathan Bridón in the third inning drove in the first run for the Industriales team. Also who again relied on their pitchers to maintain their lead.
In the eighth inning, Guillermo Carmona’s team extended their advantage with a three-run rally. Two of which were driven in by a home run from Yasiel Santoya.
Andy Vargas earned the win with a flawless five-inning performance. Allowing just four hits, striking out two, issuing no walks, and keeping the plate closed.
His replacement, Erick Cristian González, walked two batters, but Fernando Betanzo pitched the final four scoreless innings to secure the victory.
José Carlos Quesada also delivered an excellent start. Allowing only one run in two-thirds of an inning, but took the loss.
At the 26 de Julio stadium in Artemisa, the Leñadores swept the Cazadores in a doubleheader. Maintaining their pursuit of the top spot in the standings.

After these results, Industriales remains in first place with 14 wins and eight losses. Followed by Las Tunas (13-9), Mayabeque (11-11), Artemisa (10-11), Holguin (10-12), and Matanzas (7-14).
