The province of Holguin is promoting more than 50 science and innovation projects. Dedicated to priority areas for the economic and social development of the eastern territory. In which hosted the national event for Cuban Science Day.
Alejandro Gómez Torres de Cádiz Hernández, the sector’s delegate in the province, told the Cuban News Agency that the main themes include sustainable agri-food production. Energy transformation, and public administration management.
He specified that environmental topics are also included, such as the sustainable development of mountain areas, the utilization of mineral resources. Also the impact of climate change, smart tourism, and improving the quality of life in rural communities.
Moreover he noted that the province participates in certification processes, patent management, and the completion of research cycles. In collaboration with companies and universities at the national and international levels. The official added that the social sciences and humanities are also addressed. Prioritizing scientific development through a comprehensive program linked to universities.
Holguin also boasts other achievements in the sector. Such as the establishment of the Technical Advisory Council, the only one of its kind in Cuba. Also whose main advances include the introduction of genetically modified seeds into agriculture.
