With the aim of creating a space for cultural and scientific dialogue between Latin American countries and Russia, the University of Holguin will participate in the 4th International Conference on “United Culture.” Which will be held online from November 19th to 21st, 2025.
The Holguin-based university is one of the co-sponsors of this international evento. Coordinated with the National University of Trujillo (Peru), the Federal University for Latin American Integration (Brazil), and the Technical University of Manabi (Ecuador). The forum also has the academic support of the Department of Foreign Languages and Communication Technologies at the MISIS University of Science and Technology in Russia.
Moreover the University of Holguin will have a prominent presence through two of its most distinguished researchers. Dr.C. Paul Sarmiento Blanco, Director of the Center for Studies on Culture and Identity, will present the paper “The Cuban Narrative on Russian Society During World War II.” His research examines the media coverage and ideological-cultural assessment of Russian-Soviet communism in the Cuban press.
Vilma Páez Pérez, PhD in Pedagogical Sciences and Full Professor at the same center, will present the paper “Living Roots: Latin American Culture and Identity in the Spanish Classroom.” Her research proposes an innovative perspective for teaching Spanish as a foreign language. Integrating Latin American cultural elements such as music, dance, and film to foster identity reflection and in-depth dialogue from a decolonial perspective.
In its fourth edition, “United Culture” will represent a significant step forward in consolidating a collaborative knowledge network. The prominent participation of the University of Holguin enriches the debate and positions Cuba as a key player in building this shared space for critical thinking and scientific cooperation.
Also the event promises to lay the groundwork for future joint projects. Reaffirming that unity through culture and science is the most solid path to a future of shared development.
