With the joy and enthusiasm that characterize the students, the 2025-2026 school year began in Holguin. With the provincial ceremony held at the “María Antonia Bolmey” Semi-Boarding School in the city. The ceremony marked the beginning of a new school year. Filled with joy and a deep sense of commitment to the education of more than 131,000 students.
The ceremony was led by Joel Queipo Ruiz, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the province. Who, along with education sector officials, family members, and the teaching staff, shared the emotion of a day symbolizing renewed hopes and projects.

The artistic program, led by the students, fused music, dance, and song, reflecting the rich traditions and spirit of Holguin’s identity.
In this celebratory setting, special recognition was given to the director of the host school, Héctor Manuel Carmenate Esparza. For the commitment and dedication that distinguishes the institution he leads. Which has been renovated to welcome its 755 students with a renewed appearance.
“We began this school year with a comprehensive renovation of the first floor, following an investment of 3.5 million pesos. Also which includes the lobbies, the four first-grade classrooms, six offices, the administration, luxury bathrooms, the façade, and the electrical and hydraulic systems.
“Although we have already completed this first phase, we are ready to immediately continue with the general renovation of the remaining four floors. With the commitment to complete it in honor of the triumph of the Revolution,” the director concluded.
Likewise, the work of the Municipal Education Directorate was recognized for its involvement and contribution in the organization and success of the Forever Young Summer activities, a program that enriched the vacation period for Holguin’s youth.
Luis Felipe Batista Rodríguez, General Director of Education in the province. Addressed those present with a message of encouragement and motivation. He urged them to return to the classrooms—in the more than 1,300 educational institutions in Holguin. Moreover with a greater desire to learn, emphasizing the importance of being willing to overcome every challenge to become the men and women of the future that our country needs.
In his remarks, he emphatically called for strengthening the relationship between school, family, and community. Describing them as an indispensable pillar and the fundamental basis for achieving the expected educational results. Ensuring that only through unity and the joint effort of all will excellence be achieved.
