Marrero Checks Maintenance Work at Guiteras

Prime Minister Manuel Marrero reviewed this Friday the preparations being undertaken at the Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Plant (CTE). Located in the western province of Matanzas, for its capital maintenance.

Accompanied by the Minister of Energy and Mines, Vicente de la O, Marrero learned about the specific actions being carried out at the CTE to ensure its maintenance, which will be vital for the unit.

During the discussion, the director of Guiteras, Rubén Campos, explained that among the main technological issues affecting the availability and reliability of the block’s operation is feed pump number two.

Work has been underway on it for several days, and it must be started up next Monday. This is very important because when the two currently in service fail, they are immediately limited to half their load, Campos stated.

The executive stated that a reserve pump for turbine valve control oil will arrive on September 4th. But work is also underway on assembling a pump that was evaluated at the refinery in the province of Cienfuegos.

The executive of the Matanzas giant also added strategies for the future installation of a demineralized water plant.

The plant is an international practice in this type of industry, as it uses seawater instead of potable water.
