The current needs of the Holguin population and the tradition of the Cuban Psychiatric Society were the main reasons for choosing Holguin as the venue for the National Mental Health Symposium. To be held from May 14th to 17th in the Cuban city of parks.
The meeting has invited several professors from the University of Havana, and the main venue for the theoretical event for psychiatrists will be the Vladimir I. Lenin University Hospital Theater.
Free topics, lectures, courses, workshops, panels, and side activities will be presented. Including meetings in healthcare centers and the presentation of the book “The Gentleman from Paris” by Professor and Dr. C. Luis Calzadilla Fierro, the event’s guest of honor.
The event will be a good opportunity to exchange and discuss specific topics related to Mental Health: Psychiatric Clinic, Biological Psychiatry, Addictions, Art and Mental Health, Therapeutic Film Debate, Cognitive Disorders and Dementia, Psychotherapy, Violence, and Liaison Psychiatry, among other topics.
The meeting of mental health professionals is aimed at specialists in Psychiatry and Child Psychiatry, residents in both specialties, psychologists, general practitioners (GPs), nursing staff, and other mental health professionals and technicians.
This edition is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Víctor Urbino Matamoros, a renowned professor of psychiatry in Holguin. According to Dr. Mayra Góngora Herce, a psychiatrist, professor of the specialty, Master’s degree holder in Community Mental Health, and president of the Holguin Chapter of the Cuban Society of Psychiatry.
