The largest mass organization in the country, the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR in the Spanish acronym), represented by its National Coordinator, Gerardo Hernández Nordelo, arrived at the Vladimir Ilich Lenin University General Hospital to deliver a donation of much-needed supplies for patient care.

On the occasion, Hernández Nordelo said that being in that institution, a treasure of the Cuban health system, is a privilege.
“It is a huge hospital and when one analyzes the problems of the blockade and how difficult it is today to offer good medical service to the population, we cannot help but imagine how many difficulties you face every day in a hospital like this.
However, one hears of the prestige they have managed to maintain, despite the problems. We are convinced that this is a brave group that will continue to offer a quality service to our people.”
Referring to how this donation has been made possible, the Hero of the Republic of Cuba also clarified that aware of the difficulties faced by the health sector, as a result of the blockade and which is one of the fundamental targets of the measures that try to suffocate Cuba, he said that they have been working on a series of initiatives with associations of Cubans living abroad and colleagues from unions from other nations that offer donations and know the importance of opening a hole in the iron blockade.
“Thus, the donations are brought by a Cuban living abroad or a tourist who cannot reach the hospital itself and therefore they have found in the CDRs a way to leave the donations to us, aware that we will send them to the places where they are destined.”
This donation, the result of the joint effort of people in solidarity from other latitudes who have placed their trust in the mass organization, is loaded with altruism.
In the specific case of this donation, it was a series of medical supplies made up of probes, bags, paper to wrap sterile instruments and a series of elements known from experience that are lacking in many hospitals.
In this sense, he meant that “part of this donation comes from the Association of Cuban Residents in the Canary Islands and other associations. The most important thing is that those who donate do so selflessly, without any type of advertising.
So you can continue to count on us, there are many Cubans who love their country wherever they reside and care about their people. For them our message is one of gratitude, for those Cubans who help us as much as possible with medical supplies and medicines.”
Each donation of medical supplies and expendable material, no matter how small, represents an important help for health institutions in the purpose of contributing to saving lives.
