Holguín manager Walmer Urrutia to lead Cuba’s U15 Baseball team

Walmer Urrutia Aldana, originall from the municipality of Moa, was appointed manager of the national U-15 Baseball team, in recognition of the title achieved by Holguín in the National Championship of this category in 2024.

The decision of the national commission rewards the work of this outstanding coach who gave Holguín a national crown, something that had not been achieved since the members of the senior team won the 41st National Series in 2002.

As a reward for this result, the province of Holguín was also chosen to host a training sessions that will take place from November 17 with the 25 athletes pre-selected to form the team that will represent us in a tournament of nations in the Bahamas.

Colleague Luis Lamoth Quiala reports that along with Walmer Urrutia, the catcher from Holguin, Léster Castillo Mayán, was summoned and will fight to proudly wear the uniform of the four letters.

In Cuba, baseball is considered the national sport, its origins officially dating back to 1894. This passionate and massive sport has achieved countless results that have awarded it a string of victories inside and outside the country.
