Holguin transport undertook recreational trips in summertime

The Holguin Provincial Transport Company assumed during this summer season excursions to tourist and recreation zones of the whole territory, as part of a group of modifications in order to promote the family and community enjoyment.

In order to facilitate the Holguin population’s approach to vacation sites, several reorganization measures were taken, without affecting other services due to low availability of fuel or means, said Delio Almaguer Ocaña, Director of Operations of the entity.

Some of these measures were the reinforcement of routes, the increase of trips and the incorporation of new routes to destinations identified by each municipality, mainly to tourist centers such as Playa Blanca in Rafael Freyre and Guardalavaca in Banes, two of the most popular among the population, he said.

The director pointed out those other outstanding itineraries went to the beaches Caletones in Gibara, Corynthia in Frank País and Mejías in Sagua de Tánamo, excursions that had a modest variable cost, depending on the region and were mainly promoted on weekends due to the lighter planning of the sector.

In addition, he commented that one of the areas prioritized on this occasion was the Mayabe Valley of the provincial capital, a route that will increase its frequency to ten daily trips, due to the number of facilities dedicated to healthy recreation located there, such as the José Martí Children’s Park and the Botanical Garden.

In conjunction with the Summer Commissions of each territory and according to the possibilities, intentional trips were also provided to communities, companies and organizations that requested it, among them the Cuban Association of the Physically and Motor Disabled and the Union of Young Communists, he added.

With the participation of specialized entities such as School Transportation, it was possible to successfully support the pioneer rotation program for the “Children’s Island” Camp in Cayo Saetía, as well as to collaborate in the mobility for the traditional youth camping in Biran on the eve of August 13, Fidel Castro’s birthday, he said.

For the end of the summer season, Almaguer Ocaña explained that they will protect the inter-municipal services so that they are stable and allow people to return to their homes and will strengthen the transportation of the head municipality, which is currently hosting the Popular Festivities to bid farewell to the vacations.

Despite the difficulties faced by this sector, one of the most affected by the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba by the United States, every year they insist on preparing the conditions to provide the population with the services they require during the summer.
