Elizabeth Bichara Bauzá, head of this department in the General Directorate of Public Health, acknowledged the daily effort and dedication of the doctors in this area, where 70 percent of the population’s health problems must be solved.
He also highlighted the achievements of the territory on this front, among them the low indicators of infant mortality and life expectancy, relevant in the 17 polyclinics and 41 health areas of the eastern territory.
She said that this assistance strategy allows raising the hygienic-sanitary indexes of the population settlements, especially in vulnerable neighborhoods, prioritized by governmental guidelines.
Cuba has 11,400 clinics, involved in an improvement program adapted to the characteristics of the population, with social participation and individual and family self-responsibility to improve the quality of life.
