New line for barrel packaging at Bucanero brewery

A new line for the packaging of barrels that will allow increasing the commercialization of the brand was inaugurated on Thursday at Bucanero S.A. brewery, in the city of Holguín.

The investment, considered the largest in the last two decades in the brewery, has as its main objective to grow in volume of beers and meet the wide demand of tourism, gastronomy and non-state management in the country.

Erick Williams Abreu, director general of Bucanero S.A., in statements to ACN, explained that the line, together with the other of its kind, will have a production capacity of up to 475 thousand hectoliters, about five million cases of beer, which can be produced next year.

The barrels, with a capacity of 30 liters, will improve the consumption experience by offering a greater diversity of the beverage in the dispensers of restaurants, bars and hotels, with the opportunity to offer several brands simultaneously to customers, including Cristal, Cristal Extra and Bucanero, he stressed.

Luis Miranda Bouillé, technical director of the brewery, confirmed that the new machinery leaves the company prepared for the expansion of international tourism expected in the country by more than 4 million visitors per year and positions Bucanero S.A. as a leader in the barrel market in the Caribbean and Central America.

As part of the product commercialization strategy, double draft and tabletop dispensers will be used, and parallel investments are being made in glassware, refrigeration equipment, trays and dispensers, and it is expected that 1,800 of this type of equipment will be installed this year, of which 863 will be for tourism.

The company’s portfolio currently includes beer brands Cacique, Mayabe, Cristal, Bucanero and Bucanero malt, as well as premium products such as Bucanero Max, Cristal Extra and Perla Negra malt.

Bucanero S.A., created in 1997, was built with the collaboration of the former German Democratic Republic and inaugurated in 1990 under the name of Mayabe brewery after the visit of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.

Since its incorporation as a joint venture, it has increased the production capacity of the factory with lines of cans, bottles and barrels, which currently positions it as a reference in the domestic and international market.
