Liudmila Batista García, provincial president of the organization, told ACN that the integrative consultations, where multidisciplinary teams are involved, promote the diagnosis and follow-up of disorders with sequels in intellectual development and skills aimed at their community insertion.

She emphasized that these spaces provide tools to contribute to comprehensive rehabilitation and acquire communication and practical skills capable of improving the quality of life.

She also stressed that the association also offers orientation talks focused on parents, assistants and legal guardians to positively influence the strengthening of ties with adolescents and young people with disabilities.

The approval of inclusive government policies and accessibility to employment, new technologies, sports and culture are also promoted, taking into account the exhaustive evaluation of each case.

Since the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, social projects have been promoted in favor of vulnerable sectors, focusing on self-improvement, the elimination of architectural barriers, access to services and special education, with 25 institutions in the eastern territory.

Cuba has more than 150 thousand people with intellectual disabilities, of whom more than 18 thousand live in the province of Holguin, which makes it the second territory in the country with the highest incidence of this indicator.
