Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba, exchanged this Friday with sectors of the municipality of Gibara, in the province of Holguín, on the Government’s work plans to correct shortcomings and boost the country’s economy.
During a visit to Inejiro Asanuma spinning mill, in his capacity as deputy to the National Assembly of the People’s Power for this municipality, he emphasized on the application of Resolution 87, which ratifies the power of the state enterprise system to establish, in a decentralized manner, the organization of the workers’ salary method.
There, he learned about the stimulation of the workers and the collection of profits, and said that even though there is a tradition of working and increasing productivity, this must be productivity, this should be reflected in the benefits for the workers.

The head of the Cuban government explained that these projects are part of the works to be done during the current year, which is why it is needed to implement all the approved social policies in a correct and agile manner.
The powers to set the prices of each product and service are in the hands of the municipality, said Marrero Cruz, so that it helps to strengthen the socialist state enterprise, as well as order the private actors.
While talking to the workers there, he specified that the implementation of these actions will be gradual in nature, aimed at correcting the distortions, which have in the municipality the fundamental context, since it is the living cell where the social and economic life of the population is developed.
It should be taken into account that Gibara is a territory with a budget deficit, that is to say, it spends more than it earns and it is necessary to inject money to make the social sector work, which, in addition, has more than 2,600 elderly people who live alone; the vulnerable sectors will not be abandoned, he assured.
It is important to promote labor insertion in order to generate their own income, and people should pay what things are worth, while those in a less favorable situation will continue to be subsidized, and even with greater assistance from the government, he clarified.
Referring to the increase in the price of electricity, he said that in Gibara there are only 531 consumers who spend more than 500 kilowatts., which represents 0.7 of the population to which the new electricity rate will be applied, as well as the increase of seven to 21 pesos for households that do not have a water meter, that means for about 16,000 homes.
Marrero Cruz pointed out that the production potentialities must be activated, especially in the locality of Velasco, which has not been able to recover in terms of agricultural self-sufficiency.
He also stated that among the main objectives are the expansion of transportation from the state-owned company in the cities and to the private actors that undertake these services will be imposed a small increase in costs in order to respect the prices for the population.
The also member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, visited Aguada de los Mariños, where he was interested in the problems of its inhabitants and the ways to correct things by increasing food production and thus improve people’s quality of life.
Accompanying the Prime Minister during the tour were Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez, member of the CCPCC and first secretary in the province; governor Manuel Hernández Aguilera, among other local authorities.
