Inauguration of the XXXVII City Hall in Holguín

The 37th Salón de la Ciudad (City Hall) was inaugurated as part of the activities carried out during the 41st edition of the Holguin Culture Week that will conclude in this city next January 20.

Open to the public in the Main Hall of the Provincial Center of Fine Arts (CPAP), the exhibition features 48 works that deal with everyday life and the social context through engraving, photography, sculpture and collage.

Yuricel Moreno Zaldívar, director of the institution, expressed that the City Hall constitutes a space for socialization necessary to promote creative processes that find their raison d’être in our geography, therefore, it is necessary to recontextualize them in today’s Cuba, she stressed.

For the first time, at the closing of this space, where 40 creators are participating, a collateral award will be granted to encourage artistic work with manufactured paper, by the Association of Paper Artists of Florida, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the founding of the current Cuadernos Papiro Publishing House.

Dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the birth of Major General Julio Grave de Peralta, to historian Hernel Perez Concepcion and to Liudmila Perez Lopez, director of Rodrigo Prats Lyric Theater, the Holguin Culture Week has a wide program of activities among which stand out cinematographic exhibitions, lectures, expositions and concerts.
