The Cuban Pavilion at the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28), to be held in Dubai until tomorrow, concluded its activities with two presentations of great interest.
One of them corresponded on Sunday to the experiences of the Climate Resilience in Cuba’s Agricultural Systems (IRES by its Spanish acronym) project, and the other to the organic coffee BioCubaCafe, held on Sunday in the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

For the first time in the history of the COPs, a day was dedicated to the issues of agriculture and food, an initiative to which the Cuban venue joined, according to press reports sent from that Middle Eastern country.
Wilfredo Arregui, national director of the project mentioned above, presented the results achieved during the first three years, including the transformation of more than 4,500 hectares, with the implementation of inputs and equipment donated by IRES.
Regarding BioCubaCafe, it is an agroforestry joint venture established by the Lavazza Foundation of Italy and Cubacafe, dedicated to the processing and marketing of organic grain harvested in eastern Cuba, said Michele Curto, president of the Agency for Cultural and Economic Exchange with Cuba.

Curto referred to the reforestation program implemented by Cuba in the last six decades, which has increased the forest cover.
However, he pointed out that, unlike other countries, national production is developed under the forest, which, together with the scientific capabilities, put to use in the economy, has made it possible to contribute to the fight against climate change.
Visitors to the pavilion had the opportunity to taste organic coffee, including a proposal of 130-day-aged coffee with oak wood for aging Cuban rum.
