Alfredo López Valdés, general director of the Unión Eléctrica (UNE) in Cuba, called on the workforce of Lidio Ramón Pérez thermoelectric plant, known as Felton, in the municipality of Mayarí, in the province of Holguín, to work with precision and quality, where he checked the current light maintenance work on unit one, which has been carried out at this facility since November 20.
López Valdés, in an exchange with workers and managers of the industry, acknowledged the work of this plant, which was able to achieve a real production feat by sustaining the continuous generation of unit one for more than seven months.
For his part, Eric Milanés Quinzán, general manager of the Felton thermoelectric plant, stated that maintenance efforts are now focused on completing the cleaning of the boiler, the alignment and welding of seven molds and the drying of the start-up transformer.
The readjustment in the work schedule foresees that the hydraulic test will be carried out during the night of Sunday or early Monday morning, and if everything goes well, the start-up process will begin on Tuesday, December 5.
Currently, this industry is also carrying out the dismantling of the boiler of block two, included in the rehabilitation to which it is subjected, damaged by a fire in July 2022, when it was estimated to incorporate around 220 MW to the National Electric System.
Lidio Ramón Pérez thermoelectric power plant, among the most efficient units in Cuba, was officially inaugurated by Army General Raúl Castro Ruz on January 5th, 2001 and is currently the power plant with the largest generation capacity installed in the country.
