Didactic toys donated to pediatric patients in Holguín

Children admitted to the psychiatry and psychology ward of the Children’s Hospital Octavio de la Concepción de la Pedraja in Holguín profit from didactic toys donated by Ana Mahe, a Havana mother who from the experience of having a daughter with special educational needs created in 2020 the project called El mundo de Amalia, an online Didactic Toy Shop made in Cuba.

Although Mahe makes repeated donations to Havana’s Juan Manuel Márquez pediatric hospital , where her daughter keeps being treated, when she visited the province of Holguín she brought a representation of the toys they produce and wanted to donate them to the children of Holguín.

According to Dr. María Migdalia Paneque Mendoza, deputy director of Attention to the Seriously Ill in the health institution, the donation of this Havana mother to patients with special rehabilitation needs or for those who need these means to treat disorders, especially psychological ones, was very well received.

Having a daughter with a disability, and because of the experience accumulated in how the family faces this reality, she conceived this project to improve her quality of life and communication during growth and development.

In other words, according to Ana Mahe herself, the World of Amalia

arises from the need of some parents to achieve happiness for her daughter. It is also the promotion of respect for children and attention to their needs in a personalized way.

This project, in essence, provides cognitive tools, materials and emotional support for the children’s development. Therefore, in addition to the production of didactic toys, El Mundo de Amalia also devises exchanges and shops on educational toys for the children and advising.
