Paying off the agricultural debt in the municipality of Mayarí, in correspondence with the investments made by the country with the installation of artificial irrigation machines, “is a commitment today of those who are responsible for it”, said Manuel Francisco Hernández Aguilera, governor of the province of Holguín, during a working visit to this territory on Thursday.
Achieving perennial crop cycles in the rotation of the quadrants of the 30 artificial irrigation machines, where the best yield possibilities are concentrated, were among the indications of the leader.
Accompanied by Dagmar Abad Noa, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Mayarí, and Geovanis Martín Gutiérrez, President of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power, Hernández Aguilera reflected on the importance of securing seeds, as one of the links that allow lowering production costs.
He also stressed on the need to take care of production and resources, especially in areas far from human settlements.
During the tour, which was also attended by Rigoberto Rivero Durán, coordinator for the Government’s Agricultural Programs in the province, and Edgar Garcés Pupo, delegate of Agriculture in Holguín, the progress of the construction of two camps in the towns of Nipe and Herrera was checked.
Those premises will accomodate forces of the Youth Labor Army (EJT), which will be in charge of increasing the agricultural productions and to contribute to the feeding of the people.
