
This Wednesday, September 27, on International Tourism Day, Guardalavaca beach in the municipality of Banes host the closing of the MegaFam 2023 event.
The closing ceremony was held at Brisas Guardalavaca Hotel, owned by Cubanacán Hotel Group, one of the first facilities built in the area and one of the most popular among tourists from all over the world for its good service and the natural conditions of its surroundings.
MegaFam 2023, sponsored by the International Group of Tour Operators and Travel Agencies Havanatur S.A., one of the most important in Cuba, attracted more than 400 travel agents and specialized journalists from nearly 20 countries to the main tourist destinations in this eastern territory for a professional familiarization tour.
The Guardalavaca tourist resort ratifies its position as the main sun and beach destination in eastern Cuba and is considered the third most important tourist destination in Cuba, after Havana and Varadero, as it prepares for the winter season, the one with the highest influx of foreign visitors to the country as from November.
The region of Holguín also boasts outstanding sites such as La Loma de la Cruz, Mayabe Look out, the city of Gibara, Cayo Saetía and Chorro de Maita (archeological site), next to Bariay, where historians say Christopher Columbus landed in 1492 upon his arrival to this archipelago, and which will be visited by those attending the tour.
Within the framework of MegaFam 2023, Havanatur celebrated its 45 years of existence and its efforts to recover Cuba’s travel industry, a company that accounted for 25 percent of the total number of tourists who vacationed in this country before the Covid-19 pandemic.
