Ramiro Valdés checks operation at Felton Thermoelectric Plant

The Commandant of the Revolution, Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, on Thursday visited the Thermoelectric Plant (CTE) Lidio Ramón Pérez of Felton, in the Cuban province of Holguín, in order to check its operation, due to its decisive role in stability of the National Electroenergetic System (SEN).

Eric Milanés Quinzán, technical director, informed that Felton has already generated steadily for 126 days 225 MW, with stable parameters at Unit 1.

The continuity of generation is a priority for those who work at the Plant, so deficiencies are detected in a timely manner to provide solutions.

Accompanied by Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez, member of the Central Committee and first Secretary of the Party in the province; Manuel Francisco Hernández Aguilera, governor, and other local authorities, the also Vice Prime Minister of the Republic was interested on the rehabilitation and recovery strategy for Block 2.

In this sense, he was informed about the current status of the work and the actions being carried out on the Island and in other countries, as well as the availability and demand of steel to execute it.

The necessary elements to carry out the disassembly of the dome, the conservation works of the turbine and the preparation of the change of the generator gasket, in order to seal it, were also among the topics for debate in the meeting.

Valdés Menéndez was interested in the attention to man and the efficiency of the Felton Self-Consumption Farm, stressing the need to reach each worker and their families, as a deserved reward for those who distinguish dedication and commitment.
