The Energy Saving contest promoted by the National Office for the Control and Rational Use of Energy (Onure) awarded students from Holguin province who participated in the provincial competition.
The purpose of this contest points raising awarness and a positive attitude towards electricity consumption and the need to protect the environment. Through artistic expressions, students and teachers showed their commitment to energy saving, a task that requires everyone’s support.
About the contest, Kirenia Verdecia Hernández, ONURE communicator, commented that 37 children from all over the province were the winners, who participated in artistic expressions such as music, fine arts, literature and even demonstration lessons.
The award ceremony was held at Isla de los Niños¨ recreational educational center, in Cayo Saetía in the municipality of Mayarí, a place for enjoyment and a space where the winners expanded their knowledge on a better use of energy carriers.
This contest is organized by Onure every year and its continuity is a priority to guarantee environmental sustainability, the wellbeing of present and future generations, as well as to mitigate climate change, which has so many negative effects on the planet.
