Silver medal for Holguin rower Ana Laura in Central American Games

With her silver medal, the Holguin rower Ana Laura Jiménez contributed the first metal of the Holguín athletes to the Cuban delegation at the Central American and Caribbean Games, San Salvador 2023.

Ana Laura, a native of Mayarí, came second in the lightweight Singles Sculls event with a time of 7:54.11 minutes, behind 7:12 seconds from the winner, the Mexican Melissa Márquez (7:46.99).

The young athlete from Mayarice will have action again this Tuesday in the open weight four par, along with Claudia Tolón, Yariulvis Cobas and Milena Venega and will finish on Wednesday the 28th as a partner of Leah Almeida in the double Sculls lightweight.

This Monday, Lauren Ducas Rodríguez from Holguin will also compete in the final of the maximum accumulator of artistic gymnastics and Lianely Santos (artistic swimming), in individual sports.

In the collective disciplines, the basketball player Betsy Claro will be in the Cuba vs. Puerto Rico match, the softball players Luis Raúl Domínguez, Anibal Vaillant and Rafael Guerra against Venezuela and the Dominican Republic and Yordan Manduley (baseball vs. Venezuela).

The 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games, officially known as the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Sports Games San Salvador 2023, will be a regional multi-sport event that will take place between June 23 and July 8, 2023 in the capital of El Salvador, San Salvador.2 Although the games were initially scheduled to take place in 2022, the date had to be moved due to complications from the COVID-19 pandemic.
