Many people have witnessed that unique connection between mother and child that makes her perceive that he needs her, even when there is no warning, and even when they are miles apart.
Many mothers and children have also experienced the “rare” coincidence that one of them is thinking of the other, wishing to see him or talk to him, and a minute later the phone rings, bringing that beloved voice they wanted to hear.
This very strong connection between mother and child, permanent and active in any circumstance, is not a matter of magic, much less inexplicable.
In addition to being sustained by a love that has no equivalent, it has also been demonstrated for scientific reasons.
Microchimerism and other “spells”.
During pregnancy, a deep connection between mother and child originates, in which emotions, feelings, and also cells and blood are shared. This cellular exchange is known as fetal microchimerism, and its implications are many and diverse.
This phenomenon consists of the presence of fetal cells in the maternal organism, and vice versa, which have a genetic origin different from that of the individual that harbors them. These cells come from the blood of the fetus and the placenta, can cross the placental barrier and reach the blood circulation of the mother or the baby.
Fetal microchimerism occurs from the fourth week of gestation, and so far it is estimated to occur in all pregnancies.
The most unique aspect of such an exchange is that these cells can remain in the mother’s or child’s body for years or even decades after birth, and have been found in organs such as the heart, liver, kidney or brain.
