The National Defense Day took place this Friday in the province of Holguin. With the objective of checking the preparation of the combative forces. The leadership bodies and the population in different scenarios under the concept of the War of All the People.
The exercise was led in the territory by Division General Eugenio Armando Rabilero, head of the Eastern Army. And Joel Queipo Ruíz, president of the Provincial Defense Council.
At the beginning of the day, in the Pedro Díaz Coello defense zone, actions were carried out. Aimed at checking the readiness of the territorial structure to face possible attacks. The established plans and the functioning of the management bodies were reviewed.
Leonardo Ávila Isaac, lieutenant colonel of the reserve and president of this zone. He explained that the structure’s staff is complete and reported that the zone is activated and is not limited to preparation for military confrontation. It also covers food production, care for vulnerable people and other essential tasks for the community.
Subsequently, in the Vista Alegre defense zone, work was carried out aimed at strengthening the combative preparation of the population and territorial forces. A company of shotgunners was organized to fight against unmanned aerial means and an ambush was simulated against the landed enemy.
The University of Holguin also joined the activities for National Defense Day with a representation of students and workers. Also who received explanations from specialists about different preparation actions. And later participated in practical exercises conducted by officers and soldiers.
With the conclusion of the Moncada 2026 Strategic Exercise and the celebration of National Defense Day. Holguin verified the preparedness capacity of its forces, territorial structures and the population in the face of an enemy threat.
