The second day of the “Moncada 2026” Strategic Exercise took place in the Holguin Military Region. Focusing on preparing the territory to respond to limited air strikes and to counter groups of pilots downed in combat. The activities, which are being carried out nationwide on November 4th and 5th. Aim to enhance the cohesion of command bodies and troops in the face of any potential form of aggression.
At a major anti-aircraft defense unit in the region, Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Rodríguez Hernández, head of its Political Section. He explained that these practical exercises are part of a year of intensive preparation. “Today, we conducted drills on repelling enemy aviation in the event of punitive strikes against targets of economic, political, and social importance.”
Rodríguez Hernández dismissed claims that downplay the equipment of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR). “Our weaponry is capable and effective; it is ready. In contemporary combat and international scenarios, we still see equipment of this type being used. Ours is well-prepared to carry out combat missions in line with current requirements,” he stated.
The officer emphasized that the military hardware—though originating from the socialist bloc and having been in service for several generations. Still maintains strong performance capabilities and significant firepower. “The enemy knows our firepower, but what is most important is the unity of generations of Cubans. From 1968 to the present day within a single revolution,” he added.
According to the lieutenant colonel, the human quality of the personnel and the defense of the revolutionary process by the youth are decisive factors. “The generations defending the homeland today are not 67 years old. We are young, and we are ready and professionally prepared to lead our soldiers to victory, just as our Commander-in-Chief always taught us.”
The “Moncada 2026” exercise is dedicated to the centenary of the birth of Fidel Castro Ruz and reaffirms the strategic concept of the “War of the Entire People.” A National Defense Day is scheduled for Friday, November 6th. During which the population will participate in combat-readiness activities
