Table Tennis Masters League Season Kicks Off in Holguin

The 2026-2027 season of the Holguin Table Tennis Masters Club began with the singles tournament at the Fernando de Dios Buñuel Sports Athenaeum in the provincial capital.

According to Alexander Moreno Hernández, a member of the Club’s board, Yudenia Frómeta dominated the women’s division. Securing 400 points for the season rankings. She was followed by Milena Delgado (280), Yanelis Aballe (140), Camila Pavón (70), and Delmi Santos (35), who took second through fifth place, respectively.

In the men’s division for players under 50, Fernando Infante triumphed, earning 435 points. Rounding out the podium in second and third place were Raúl Yordan (300) and Alexander Lobaina (155). The latter being a member of the national team for athletes with disabilities.

Among men over 50, the top honor went to Oscar Guerra (435 points). Followed by Alfredo González (305) in second place, while Alexander Moreno (160) took third.

“At the season opener, Club members donated equipment to support table tennis classes at the Manuel Fajardo campus (Faculty of Physical Culture) of the University of Holguin. We also wish to thank Dr. Julio Enrique Villeta Diéguez—who is currently on a medical mission in Italy—for sending the balls used in our events,” added Moreno Hernández. The Club Master’s next tournament for the 2026–2027 season is schedule for October 17th. Marking the opening round of the team league. The event will feature four squads competing in a single round-robin format.

This season will be packed with events and celebrations. In addition to individual and team competitions, there will be doubles matches (open category). Also the club will celebrate International Table Tennis Day alongside athletes from the Pedro Díaz Coello EIDE (School for Sports Initiation).

Other highlights include the club’s ninth anniversary in March 2027. The Champions Tournament in June, and the second edition of the Amaro Cup.
