Young producer Yeema Martínez Yee, from Radio Angulo in Holguin, won the Grand Prize at the 36th edition of the “Antonio Lloga in Memoriam” National Workshop and Contest for Young Radio Producers with her work, *Vender la inocencia* (Selling Innocence).
The jury, based in Santiago de Cuba, commended the entry for its use of various radio specialties and sound techniques. To create a high-quality communicative product, as well as for its respectful handling of the source’s privacy.
Also the work received honorable mentions in the female voiceover and scriptwriting categories, in addition to the award for direction.
Martínez expressed her satisfaction to the Cuban News Agency upon receiving the competition’s top honor. Noting that it was one of her first professional experiences since graduating.
“Selling Innocence’’ addresses a social issue from a perspective that blends journalistic work with the unique characteristics of the radio medium. Elements that contributed to its recognition among the 72 entries in this year’s competition.
The Special Award for Best Sports Podcast went to *Isla Ventura: la bola del tiempo* (Isla Ventura: The Time Ball) by producer Yaneiris Núñez from Radio Playita in Imias, Guantanamo.
During the closing ceremony held this Friday at the Pacho Alonso recreation center in the “Hero City” (Santiago de Cuba). Awards were also presented in the categories of male and female voiceover, scriptwriting, and direction, alongside the Lloga Family Award.
Moreover the 36th edition of the event brought together young producers from various provinces across the country. It focused on sports commentary and narration in radio while also incorporating sessions for exchange, training, and analysis regarding the medium’s present and future.
Rey Luis Correa Fonseca, the event’s general coordinator, announced that the 37th edition, scheduled for September 2027. It will be dedicated to the theme of radio in times of crisis and will have an international scope.
The “Antonio Lloga in Memoriam” National Workshop and Contest for Young Radio Broadcasters. Organized by the Hermanos Saíz Association, pays tribute to the legacy of the late actor, director, writer, and radio producer from Santiago de Cuba. It serves as a forum for networking, professional development, and the promotion of the next generation of radio professionals.
