The death toll in Colombia has risen to 181, while the number of injured exceeds 1,300. Following 7.4 magnitude earthquake, according to a report released by the National Government.
From the Unified Command Post (PMU) established after the emergency. President Abelardo de la Espriella also reported that, to date, 1,575 homes have been damaged, 37 homes destroyed, 61 buildings collapsed. And 18 health centers and 52 schools have also been damaged.
Other damage includes 17 affected community centers, 18 roads, and six airports, one of which reported damage to its runway.
The President stated that the priority is rescuing those still trapped under the rubble.
Also the Colombian Geological Survey (SGC) reported that more than 20 aftershocks were recorded following the earthquake. Which occurred at 7:34 a.m. local time.
The Colombian Association of Capital Cities reported that Pereira, Cali, Manizales, Quibdo, and Armenia are experiencing the most critical situations. With fatalities, injuries, and people trapped, structural collapses, and damage to hospital infrastructure, airports, public services, and transportation systems.
Meanwhile, the Traffic Police reported total closures and restricted access on various roads in Caldas, Tolima, Quindio, and Valle del Cauca.
The National Government issued a national disaster declaration. Which will allow for the strengthening of mobilization and coordination of institutional resources to address the emergency.
