The University of Holguin (UHo) continues to strengthen its prestige within the Cuban Higher Education landscape. Recently, during the 58th Meeting of the National Accreditation Board, new results were announced. That validate the university’s commitment to the comprehensive training and quality of its professionals.
On this occasion, the recognition was awarded to three programs within the Faculty of Educational Sciences. Reaffirming the province’s role as a bastion in the preparation of those who have the mission of teaching.
Following rigorous external evaluation processes that analyze variables such as faculty quality, social impact, infrastructure, and student training. The Board agreed to grant the Excellence Category to the Bachelor’s degrees in Preschool Education: A vital program for the foundation of the Cuban education system. Also in Foreign Language Education (English), recognized for its capacity to train competent specialists in a globalized world.
This level of accreditation is the highest level award by the Ministry of Higher Education (MES in the Spanish acronym). It distinguishes those programs that maintain international quality standards.
Likewise, the Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science Education achieved Certified Program status. A preliminary step that demonstrates the strength of its curriculum and the relevance of its graduates to the current digital transformation of Cuban society.
“This achievement validates collective work, the daily effort of our professors, students, and support staff,” stated academic authorities of the institution.
For the University of Holguin, these results are not an end goal, but rather an impetus to continue raising scientific and pedagogical rigor. Accreditation not only confers prestige. Also it guarantees that the young people currently studying there will graduate with the necessary tools to transform their environment and contribute to the country’s socioeconomic development.
