Our Memory Awards Presented at the May Pilgrimages (+ Photos)

The awards of the Our Memory Thought Congress. A key event in the May Pilgrimages, were presented today in the Revolution Room of the La Periquera Provincial Museum in Holguin.

In the Presentation category, Roxana Beatriz Rodríguez Hidalgo was awarded for her work. “The Cell of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) of Contramaestre as an Artistic Guild of the Young Avant-Garde.” Her work explores the history of the organization that brings together new voices in art in that municipality of Santiago de Cuba province. From its beginnings and main events to its current state.

Rodríguez Hidalgo told the Cuban News Agency that the recognition represents a greater commitment to cultural research. And to the need to make visible the work done by the young artistic avant-garde in the region.

Contramaestre boasts a vibrant cultural life and a generation of artists. Also who have championed spaces for artistic promotion, debate, and growth for years. Documenting this history is therefore also a way to preserve memory and recognize those who have sustained these processes, she stated.

In the Projects category, the award went to Gemay Castillo for her Interpret-art Creation-Interpretation Laboratory. A proposal aimed at fostering evaluative initiatives that establish connections between individual and collective experiences and the stylistic principles of music history.

Additionally, honorable mentions were awarded in both categories. While the La Periquera Provincial Museum received an honorary recognition. For being a symbol of resistance and the identity of the people of Holguin. As well as a heritage landmark of the city.
