Several entities in the province of Holguin are promoting projects aimed at changing the energy matrix. Through the installation of photovoltaic technology equipment. Under the direction of the Vértice Design and Engineering Company.
As a way to guarantee the autonomy of institutions with respect to the National Electric System (SEN in the Spanish acronym) and reduce the consumption of fossil fuels. Vértice is developing plans to integrate renewable energy sources in public and academic institutions in the region. Belkis Díaz Tizón, head of the Design Management and Direction Unit, told the Cuban News Agency.
Among the centers with which they are collaborating are the Dr. Antonio Núñez Jiménez University of Moa. The Vladimir Ilich Lenin General Hospital, and the National Applied Research Company (ENIA).
Currently, the integration of solar energy is a standard requirement in building projects. So they are installing a 50-kilowatt photovoltaic park at the university. Thanks to a donation from Canada, she explained.
The main purpose is to contribute to the National Electric System (SEN). Simultaneously, serve as a tool for training and practical experience for students and specialists in Electrical Engineering. To this end, they are also installing an experimental system that allows them to monitor the plant’s output and capacity.
Díaz Tizón noted that the design includes two solar trackers and panels different from those used in conventional parks. Energy capture will be monitored from a specialized center. Allowing for analysis of energy performance under different weather conditions.
In order to achieve electrical sustainability, the institution also participated in the construction of the Serones II photovoltaic farm, located in the municipality of Mayari. With a capacity of five megawatts and designed for the stable injection of power into the grid.
Also the specialist added that, among the work being done to support the public health sector, they installed solar water heaters at the Vladimir Lenin Hospital. As part of a plan to improve comfort and services at that institution.
Founded on August 4th, 2004, the company Vértice has achieved outstanding results in implementing programs related to the tourism and housing sectors. As well as in carrying out projects that benefit the community.
