Schedule Released for Remaining Games in the National Series

The National Baseball Commission confirmed this Wednesday during a press conference at the Latinoamericano Stadium the necessary adjustments to the schedule for the 64th National Series.

The president of the Cuban Baseball Federation, Juan Reinaldo Pérez Pardo, explained that more than 50 games remain suspended or postponed. That their rescheduling will be carried out gradually, depending on how the situation develops.

He emphasized that the process will prioritize the games that influence the standings of the top eight teams. Especially, the determination of the top two spots, which guarantee direct entry to the Cuban Baseball League.

The official insisted that the championship cannot extend beyond January 30th. Due to already scheduled international events and confirmed that any pause in the domestic league to participate in a potential Caribbean Series is out of the question.

Also the rescheduled games will begin from Friday, December 19th to Sunday, December 21st. On the first two days, Mayabeque will host Granma. Artemisa will host Isla de la Juventud. Santiago de Cuba will host Villa Clara. Las Tunas will host Ciego de Avila, and Cienfuegos will host Pinar del Rio.

On Sunday 21st, the scheduled games are Mayabeque vs. Artemisa. Industriales vs. Isla de la Juventud. Las Tunas vs. Ciego de Avila, and Cienfuegos vs. Pinar del Rio again.

It was reported that the start of the quarterfinal playoffs will depend on the progress of the rescheduled games. It could begin on December 24th or be postponed to the first days of January in the worst-case scenario.

Finally this stage will be played in five-game series. With the first two games at the home of the lower-ranked team and the remaining two at the home of the higher-ranked team.
