During a working meeting with top cultural authorities in the province of Holguin. With the participation of Roberto Fonseca and Nachito Herrera, it was confirmed that Holguin will host the International Jazz Plaza Festival for the first time. From January 25th to February 1st, 2026.
Those present in Holguin included Víctor Rodríguez, director of the National Center for Popular Music and president of the festival. Eliot Porta, coordinator of the event in Santa Clara. Fernando de Ávila, producer of the festival in Santiago de Cuba. Yakelin Tapia, Provincial Director of Culture in Holguin. As well as the top representatives of the province’s cultural institutions.
Oreste Saavedra, director of the Holguin Symphony Orchestra, announced the participation of students from the Arts Education program. In the activities that will take place in the city.
According to Joel Milord, a prominent figure in Holguin’s music scene and the event’s coordinator. Holding the Festival in Holguin is a way to reshape musical thought, which is the foundation of Cuban identity.
For over 40 years, the International Jazz Plaza Festival has established itself as an essential event on the Cuban arts scene. Making it a source of pride for the Holguin Directorate of Culture to be one of the host cities this year.
