University Campus in Cueto Opens New Paths to Knowledge

The kickoff ceremony for the 2025-2026 school year at the Cueto Municipal University Center, dedicated to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, offered a warm welcome to the 67 students beginning their Bachelor’s programs in Primary Education, Physical Education, Accounting and Finance, and Agroindustrial Process Engineering.

This university campus also provides a space for the training and academic growth of the 225 students continuing their higher education there.

In the keynote address at the ceremony, Idania Sarmiento Proenza, director of the educational institution, wished them a year “full of success, commitment, and effort. Accompanied by a faculty that has demonstrated a spirit of self-improvement and a desire to contribute to their education. Let us promote knowledge, science, culture, and social justice.”

She also emphasized that “education is a public good, a constitutional right, and an irreplaceable tool for improving the quality of life. Embrace this opportunity with responsibility and commitment.”

Her further explained that “our country and the world are facing unprecedented challenges. Facing them requires young people to think independently and act with empathy. Here, you will find support from the Board of Directors, professors, and local authorities to guide you on the path of knowledge.”

The start-of-year ceremony at the university headquarters in Cueto was presided over by Yuneidys Batista Fonseca, member of the Municipal Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba in this territory, and other guests from the government and political and mass organizations.
