Among the immediate actions keeping members of the Youth for Life Network busy in Holguin is the launch of the new version of the Adolescent Diary on September 11th. As part of the Decide Your Game campaign, promoted to promote the comprehensive health of adolescents and young people.
Regarding the details of the Adolescent Diary, Mariuska Quiñones Aguilar, coordinator of this Network in the province of Holguin. Said, “The national launch of this diary took place on August 12th at the network’s methodological meeting in the province of Matanzas.
This material invites people to explore, learn, and make informed decisions during this important period of change and opportunity. The launch of this diary will take place in Holguin next Thursday, September 11th, at the Alex Urquiola Library, a friendly space for our network.”
The diary contains tools, activities, and reflections that will help adolescents better understand their rights. They will also find valuable information that will serve as a space for making better decisions for their health and well-being. It is an invitation to follow the actions of the Decide Your Game campaign.
Regarding the most important thematic axes of the Decide Your Game campaign, which will be extended to other municipalities in the province. The university professor explains that it is based on a communication campaign on the comprehensive health of adolescents and young people. To reinforce informed decision-making and promote safe behaviors.
It also covers the age range 12 to 19 years and involves families, all sectors, and society at large. It focuses on comprehensive health. Thus influencing the construction of a healthy, fulfilling, and successful life plan for adolescents. This campaign positions the Youth for Life network as a safe space where people can obtain information and support on health issues.
It includes multiple educational activities such as workshops, meetings, community activities, among other initiatives. In Holguin, this campaign will launch on December 3rd, 2024, at the Jesús Menéndez Pre-University Institute in the provincial capital.
However, several educational institutions in the region have been complicit in the deployment of its promoters. In the first half of this year, more than 60 educational activities have been carried out. Mobilizing a significant group of adolescents and young people.
Regarding the assistance, support, and intersectoral collaboration to make this campaign possible, Quiñones stated that as part of the strategic alliances. Links were established with Higher Education, Health, the Ministry of Education, the National Institute of Sports and Recreation (Inder), Justice, Courts, Juvenile Affairs, the Cuban Workers’ Federation (CTC), the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), the Union of Young Communists (UJC), Culture. Above all, the Government, among other institutions and organizations.
The beginnings of the Youth for Life Network, with the goal of promoting a culture of self-care and self-responsibility through the training of promoters. Date back to August 1998 at the National Center for the Prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections and HIV/AIDS in Havana. It is comprised of volunteer health promoters, adolescents, and young people. Responsible for promoting age-specific strategies with a gender and legal focus, based on behavior change models.
