Yovany Gámez Pérez, director of the recovery and sales unit of the main municipality, told the Cuban News Agency that interaction has been established with non-state economic actors in the area. Leading to contracts, collaborations, and an increase in recycling rates of approximately 50 tons.
Among the main areas are the vicinity of the Mayor General Calixto García Stadium, the Los Chinos market, and 13th and 8th streets in the city of Parks. Significant concentrations of private businesses, Gámez Pérez explained.
He indicated that, once the raw material is collected, it is sorted, decontaminated from other waste. And stored for subsequent sale at various companies in the country responsible for processing the product.
Moreover he commented that the derivatives of this paper are used in the manufacture of endless tiles, egg cartons, notebooks, and other items, with considerable savings in import costs.
The executive emphasized that measures still need to be taken in this process to prevent waste contamination in mini-landfills. Which, once incorporated into the garbage, cannot be reused.
The Raw Materials Recovery Company reaffirms its social commitment through links with private management methods. Also various collection projects that contribute considerable resources to the economy and replace imports.
