Construction of the La Caridad solar park, located in the town of Potrerillo, in the municipality of Rafael Freyre, in the province of Holguin, is moving forward with the participation of the Copextel subsidiary. As part of the programs to change the country’s energy matrix.
The solar farm, with a capacity of 21.8 Megawatts (MW), remains on schedule after completing actions. Such as extending the starting line, assembling tables and panels, and delivering the seven inverters.
Among the work carried out by specialized teams is the installation of cabling from the panels to the inverters’ concentrator boxes, George Aguilera Proenza, head of the entity’s Project group, explained to the Cuban News Agency.
Also by participating in the construction of power plants such as Yuraguanal, the first of its kind in the province. Corua five in Mayari; and Providencia, located near Frank País International Airport. In the provincial capital, they are consolidating their experience in the field, he added.
He also noted that approximately 400 workers from the companies Construction Company of Architectural Works (Acimut in the Spanish acronym). The Electricity and Telecommunications Services, among others, contributed to the construction of the park.
This site is part of the program in Holguin aimed at providing 109 MW by the end of 2025. With the opening of five similar photovoltaic farms.
Thanks to a donation from the People’s Republic of China, another project is being developed that will generate 120 MW in the country. Moreover of which the eastern province will initially have 40, distributed across six five-MW sites and one 10-MW site.
